Beyond Careers Site Design
Client:
Beyond Careers - a community-based, non-profit organization founded on July 7, 2003 provides Houston area economically disadvantaged and at-risk high school students the educational opportunities they need to get ahead. Idea Integration Interactive had the pleasure to team up with this client during the 4th Annual Houston Accessibility Internet Rally (AIR) in which Idea II won first place for most accessible website design in the Formula One division.
Challenge:
Build a fully functional and accessible website for a Non-Profit organization against fourteen other local agencies within an eight hour time span. The competition has two categories; Stock Car and Formula One. The Stock Car class sites are judged on basic accessibility, such as text alternatives for pictures and the quality of link text. In addition to the criteria for Stock car, the Formula One entries are judged on advanced technologies such as multimedia, data tables, flash, and scripted applications.
Solution:
The IDEA II AIR team developed an intuitive design and implemented advanced AIR judging elements such as flash, multimedia, data tables, and WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS). The use of WordPress as a CMS enables Beyond Careers to maintain their site without having the need for an on-site web developer or strong knowledge of coding.
